sysbraykr.com news - PT. Indodax Nasional Indonesia, one of the cryptocurrency trading platforms operating in Indonesia, was reportedly the target of a hacking attack starting from September 11, 2024. This incident has shaken the cryptocurrency industry in the country.

The first information about the hack on Indodax was discovered by the Web3 security platform, Cyvers, which then published the findings on its official X (formerly Twitter) account.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning, caused Indodax's system and website to become inaccessible. William Sutanto, CTO and co-founder of Indodax, responded to the post via the company's official account and acknowledged that a security incident had taken place.

“Our team is conducting a full investigation to identify the security breach. In the meantime, all Indodax features have been temporarily suspended. We apologize for this incident,” he was quoted as saying on the Bloomberg Technoz website.

Indodax's CEO, Oscar Darmawan, revealed that the hacker responsible for the attack on his company came from North Korea, specifically from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) group.

Oscar further added that the DPRK hacking group has been known to attack other global cryptocurrency trading platforms with large liquidity in cryptocurrency assets.

To address the incident, Indodax is currently coordinating with law enforcement to handle the hacking case.

“We realize that this is a serious global threat. Therefore, we have been coordinating with the Cyber Crime Unit of the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) to address this incident quickly and effectively,” Oscar said, as quoted by Kompastekno from Antara News, Monday (16/9/2024).
